OIL & COLD WAX
2023 is my year for focusing on oil and cold wax. Cold wax is an oil painting medium made, in my instance I use Gamblin, of bee’s wax and Gamsol (a solvent). It provides more body for the paint, allows for working at multiple color layers with less chance of making mud, and dries faster. I love the color and texture I get using Oil & Cold Wax
I’ve studied under Jerry McLaughlin since 2018, first in Berkley and then in his new home in San Miguel de Allende. I have also had classes with Rebecca Crowell. Jerry & Rebecca are authors of the ‘Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations,’ the standard reference.
